This is a NCAA certified event. The Pre-Season Challenge held each spring is one of the largest exposure tournaments in the United States. NCAA rules allow Division I, II, and III coaches to attend Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
120 college coaches attended last year.
All teams must be able to play on Friday, April 16 - games begin at 8:00 am.
Thursday, April 15 at VCU:
Mandatory NCAA Lecture for all teams at 9:00pm.
Coaches (who MUST be NCAA certified) can register to pick up their coaches bands (you must have your license with you) between 6:00-10:00pm on Thursday, April 15.
All individuals that engage in coaching activities at a NCAA certified event must be approved prior to participation through the NCAA Coaches Approval Program (see NCAA Link under our Main Menu).
Therefore, any coach or assistant that wants to receive a coaches band to sit on the bench with their team during a NCAA Certified Event, must be certified and enter their Name and NCAA Coaches Approval Number on the NCAA roster.
NO coaches bands will be given to coaches who do not provide the approval number.
NCAA mandates strict enforcement of all activity operators. The participation of a single unapproved coach will render the event ineligible for certification the following year.
